Your best source for custom chenille
Suzie’s Sewing and Letter Jackets is based in Bozeman, Montana, where owner Susie McRae has been professionally creating beautiful chenille embroidery for letter jackets since 1994. Susie began her informal apprenticeship with traditional, hand guided chenille embroidery at the age of 17, learning the art from her Great Aunt, Mae Page of Everett, Washington.
Chenille embroidery uses two basic stitches, the moss (or loop) stitch and the rodeo (or chain) stitch to produce a variety of decorative and utilitarian products with chenille fibers.
Susie is one of the few artisans still practicing single-stitch chenille embroidery, and has produced many high quality letter jackets for Montana high-school students over the years. She is now offering her custom services to a wider audience via this website.
Because her chenille is more labor-intensive and requires a skilled, experienced hand, her work is more precise, more plush, and ultimately more beautiful than that commonly produced by today’s computerized embroidery machines.
Even so, her customers are always pleasantly surprised by the affordable prices at Suzie’s Sewing and Letter Jackets.
If you are an award-winning student or the parent of one, be sure to check with Suzie’s before ordering from your local retailer. Her quality and affordability are a winning combination!
